My practice explores the relationship between people and place, using photography, walking, making and collaboration as methods of enquiry.
Of Mothers and Missiles (2023) [7 mins]
A commissioned short film by Street Level Photoworks introducing my practice.
Created over two years across Benbecula, South Uist and Glasgow, Of Mothers and Missiles traces a significant shift in my work during early parenthood. It explores how photography, printmaking and painting became increasingly collaborative, embracing making alongside my young children and laying the foundations for my ongoing enquiry into people, place and participation.

london’s for sale and i’m not moving [2018]
A 6 year-long enquiry into place, housing and belonging, developed through repeatedly walking the perimeter of London's Olympic Park. Combining archival research, interviews and documentary photography, the project explored how landscapes carry social, political and personal histories.
The work evolved into exhibitions, publications, printmaking and installation, demonstrating how a single line of enquiry can unfold across multiple creative forms.
Crookston Castle offers the opportunity to apply this same research-led approach, allowing the landscape, its histories and the people who know it to shape the creative outcomes.
Academy 2008-2010
Over two years I documented Withywood Community School's transition into Merchants' Academy, Bristol. Working collaboratively with Year 10 pupils, I made portraits in both the old and new school environments, revealing subtle shifts in posture, gaze and identity. Portrait locations were chosen by the young people themselves.
Shot on medium-format film, the project embraced a slow, considered way of working, resulting in an exhibition, publication and print series.
Crookston Castle offers an opportunity to revisit this slower photographic practice, working collaboratively with participants to create portraits and images that respond to the site's layered histories and contemporary community.

These playful collaborative works explore shared authorship, imagination and letting unexpected outcomes emerge. They suggest one possible approach to creatively reimagining the histories and landscapes of Crookston Castle.
The Nest – Consent, Nature & Play - We Are Wonder - Bellahouston PArk, Glasgow 2023-present
A weekly consent-based woodland programme developed through We Are Wonder. Returning to the same place over time allows children to build deep relationships with landscape through play, making and seasonal change.
This residency could extend that enquiry by creating opportunities for children and families to develop a similar familiarity with Castle Hill through repeated visits, creative exploration and shared experiences of the site.
HEARTH - NATURAL CORDAGE MAKING WORKSHOP, Govan, Glasgow, 2026.
Hearth is a monthly outdoor makers' group developed through We Are Wonder, bringing people together in local green spaces to explore nature-based craft.
In this workshop, participants gathered, processed and twisted locally foraged plant fibres into cordage, using nettles to make rope, brew tea and cook pakoras. The session explored how traditional skills can deepen our understanding of the plants and landscapes around us, creating space for conversation, shared learning and connection.
The workshop led to a commission from the Scottish Maritime Museum to deliver a community workshop as part of their summer engagement programme.
This residency could extend this approach by exploring the plants and materials growing around Crookston Castle, inviting participants to gather, make and discover how practical craft can become a way of understanding the site's ecology, history and stories.
